What does UtterNote do?
UtterNote turns audio and video recordings into transcripts and step-by-step guides, SOPs, or checklists your team can follow.
Who is it for?
Operations, People, training, and customer-facing teams that document by doing — recording walkthroughs instead of writing docs from scratch.
What kind of recordings work best?
Anything narrated — screen recordings, in-person walkthroughs, voice memos, Zoom or Teams calls, training sessions.
Transcription
What formats do you support?
MP3, MP4, WAV, M4A, WebM, MOV, OGG. Up to 100MB per file.
How accurate is the transcription?
About 99% on clean single-speaker audio. Around 95% on noisy multi-speaker calls. Speaker labels and timestamps are included.
How long does it take?
Most files complete in under 5 minutes. Long async-safe processing for files near the size limit.
Can I edit the transcript?
Yes — fix names, terms, or any model errors before generating a guide.
SOPs & Guides
What does a generated guide look like?
Numbered steps with action-verb titles, embedded screenshots extracted from the source video, callouts for prerequisites and warnings, and a related-resources block.
Can I customize the template?
Yes. Pick from prebuilt templates (checklist, runbook, training manual) or apply your brand style.
How do I share a guide?
Public link with optional password, embed in Notion or Confluence, export to PDF, or share inside the UtterNote library with role-based permissions.
Pricing & accounts
Is there a free plan?
Yes — sign up with email and start transcribing. Pricing kicks in past the free tier; see /pricing.
How is billing measured?
Per minute of audio processed and per team seat for shared libraries. Pricing page has current tiers.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from settings; you keep access until the end of the current billing period.
Security & privacy
Is my data used to train AI?
No. Your recordings, transcripts, and guides are never used to train any model.
Where is my data stored?
US-region Vercel Blob storage for media; US-region Neon Postgres for transcripts and metadata.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. Per-guide deletion is instant; bulk deletion is supported from your account settings.
Do you support HIPAA / SOC 2 / GDPR?
GDPR rights are honored as standard. SOC 2 Type II is in progress. HIPAA-bound use requires a BAA — contact us.
